Governor taps Oregon Solutions to complete the nation's first offshore wave energy project near Reedsport
The "Oregon Solutions" designation mobilizes coalition of community, business, stakeholders and government. By collaborating with public and private partners through the Oregon Solutions process, the Reedsport wave energy project could become a national model for other coastal communities, as well as a possible model for FERC to promote in other states, the Governor said.
Governor Kulongoski appointed Senator Joanne Verger and Keith Tymchuk, President of the Port of Umpqua Commission to lead a diverse team consisting of state and federal agencies, local government, tribes and businesses. The goal of this project is to set the stage for a coordinated, well integrated licensing process between our public, private and non-profit partners and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The Oregon Solutions team met for the first time on Oct. 4, in Reedsport. The team will continue to meet through the fall and winter to work on issues associated with the regulatory process.
